“…Hey! Recently, I sent an email to my opt-in email list of 25,000 customers. I received complaints from a few customers who said that they want to opt-out of the list but that I didn’t have an opt-out or unsubscribe email link in my message. How do I include an opt-out or unsubscribe email link in my emails and how do I remove people who opt-out or unsubscribe from my email list?..”
Including an opt-out or unsubscribe email link in your messages is actually one of the 3 main criteria of the CAN-Spam Act.
GroupMail makes it easy to add an opt-out or unsubscribe link to your message and remove email addresses that opt-out or unsubscribe from your mailing list.
The process to remove opt-out or unsubscribe emails from your list basically involves two steps:
- Including a mailto: link in your email, and
- configuring GroupMail’s Subscriber Add-on to find opt-out requests on your incoming POP3 mail server.
You can tell Subscriber to either delete unsubscribe email addresses from your email list(s) or to keep them on your list but add them to the GroupMail Exclusion list.
* GroupMail checks the exclusion list during each mailing and will not send messages to anyone on the exclusion list.
Below is a video that shows how to configure GroupMail’s Subscriber Add-on to remove opt-out or unsubscribe emails from your mailing list.
