Sometimes there is a need to have a newsletter that is quite long and requires the recipient to scroll up and down through your message to read all the content. This can be a bit of a pain so we’ve added a new feature to GroupMail (from Version 5.3.135 onwards) that will allow you to easily add Bookmarks to your message.
What is a Bookmark I hear you say?
A Bookmark is a reference point in your message that allows you to click on a link and jump directly to that section without the need to scroll through the message to find the relevant information. For example you may have a Bookmark at the Top of your message and a link at the bottom of your message that when clicked, will instantly jump back to the top.
How do I add Bookmarks to my Email?
Allow me to show you in the steps below…
1) Create your message in GroupMail and click on the area you want to add the Bookmark to. In my screen shot example below I am adding a Bookmark at the top of my messages. Now click on the Bookmark icon.
Now type in a reference name that will make it easy for you to recognize later on when you create the links. As I’m adding a Bookmark to the top of my message I just called it “Top”. Then click on “Add”.
2) I now want to add a Bookmark at the very bottom of my message so scroll down to the end to were you want the bookmark to be and click on the Bookmark icon and give a reference name such as “Bottom” like in my screen shot below and click on “Add”.
3) Now that we have 2 Bookmarks in our message, Top and Bottom, we need to add clickable links to those Bookmark points. Lets start at the bottom of the message and create a link that when clicked on, will jump to the top of our message where we have the top Bookmark.
Highlight the word(s) you want to hyperlink and click on “Insert” from the top menu bar and select “Hyperlink”.
From the drop down lists, choose the “Type:” as Bookmark and the Bookmark you want to select like in my example is “Top”. Click OK.
You now have a link at the bottom of your message that when clicked on, will jump you back to the top of your message.
4) Now we will create a link from the top of the message that will jump to our bottom book mark so scroll to the top of your message again and highlight the word(s) you want to be clickable. Click on “Insert” from the top menu bar and select “Hyperlink”.
From the drop down lists, choose the “Type:” as Bookmark and the Bookmark you want to select like in my example is “Bottom”. Click OK.
That’s all that’s too it! You now have two Bookmarks linked in your message to jump from the top to the bottom and from the bottom of your message to the top.
