If you don’t have the time or inclination to split your master list into multiple groups for targeted email campaigns, there are a number of ways that GroupMail can help you to manage delivery.
Use Partial Sending
With GroupMail, you can deliver to subsets of your list using partial sending. To do this:
- Prepare your message for delivery and press Send.
- On the Prepare to Send screen, click the “Set Exclusion Options” link
- Check the box for “Send the Message to a Subset of the Selected Group“
- Enter the number of the recipient to start with
- Enter the number of the recipient to end with
Use Filters
GroupMail Filters can be used to target messages to specific elements of your list that meet a certain criteria. For example, you can create a message and send it to only those recipients where “City” equals “New York”, or where “Email Address” equals “@aol.com”. You can create multiple filters for a mailing and save your filters for use in future campaigns. For more information about GroupMail Filters, please read How to Apply Filters to Target Group Email Campaigns
Use Exclusion Lists
You can also create an exclusion list of addresses that you don’t want to receive a message. Addresses can either be entered manually or imported from an external file into the Groups, Exclusion List.
Of course, GroupMail allows you to create multiple recipient groups as well. Some users like to maintain a master group containing all of their contacts for broadcast messages that pertain to everyone and subgroups that are created for more targeted mailings.
